Reovering his senses Colonel Darnell heads to the office to put out an
APB on Wonder Woman. Hippolyte was there as Diana Prince and quickly changed
to Wonder Woman (without the mask this time) and not only passed for Wonder
Woman to both Darnell and Steve Trevor but convinced them Darnell was duped
by an imposter. Realising she had triggered the very sequence of events she
had wanted to prevent Hippolyte desperately tried to contact her daughter by
mental radio while hoping switching lassoes when she won their fight had done
the trick.
Sure enough Duke Dalgan and his men are onboard and since she doesn't have
her lasso handy Wonder Woman has to settle for beating them up. Trying to
work out what happened she heads home to confront the imposter but with fate
foiled Hippolyte had no reason to stick around (not even seeing how far she
could lead Steve on before he realised she was the wrong woman).
If she ever worked out who the Masquerader was is unrecorded but it
doesn't say much about the claim that Wonder Woman was wise as Athena. IMHO
anyway.
